Orientation on Fashion Design: Empowering Students for Skill Development and Career Growth An Orientation on Fashion Design was conducted on January 29, 2026, at the MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya College Auditorium, organized by the Entrepreneurship Hub.
The event was graced by Sri Gurunandan, General Manager of Queen School of Design, as the Chief Guest, with Sri Shankar Prasad, Head Academician, serving as the Guest of Honour. Smt. Rajeshwari, Facility Coordinator, and Smt. Nischitha, Principal, were also special guests at the event.
During the occasion, Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal, emphasized the importance of seizing opportunities and encouraged students to remain open in their thoughts and actions to easily capitalize on them. Sri Gurunandan spoke about the significance of cultivating skills to enhance productivity and led an ice-breaking activity that boosted students’ confidence. Sri Shankar Prasad stressed the value of learning one new skill every year to improve personal development and distinguish oneself from others.
A total of 248 students attended the orientation, with members of the Entrepreneurship Hub also present to support the program.
The Home Management session titled “Smart Money Management: A Guide to Personal Finance” was held on 31 January 2026 at the College Auditorium, with Sri Mahadevaswamy S, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce at MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, as the resource person. The session, attended by 234 students, was also supported by faculty members including Sri Maruthi Prasanna (Coordinator), Smt. Namratha D, Smt. R. Rajeshwari, Smt. Chaitra H. V, and Ms. Divyashree R. During the session, the speaker emphasized key aspects of effective home management, such as household budgeting, monitoring income and expenses, fostering savings, using credit responsibly, and planning for future family needs. On 27 January 2026, the Department of Commerce, in collaboration with Bajaj Finserv and Walchand Plus, hosted the inauguration of the Certificate Programme in Banking, Finance, and Insurance (CPBFI) for final-year B.Com students at the college auditorium. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Deepak Daniel, Senior Consultant and Banking Trainer at Bajaj Finserv, with Mr. Rajesh G, Insurance Trainer, serving as the Guest of Honour. Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal, chaired the event, and Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator, was also present on the dais. On 28th January 2026, the Student Welfare Committee of MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, under the initiative of IQAC, in association with the CSR initiative of Aavas Finance Limited and Triguna – The Science of Living, successfully organized a Road Safety Bootcamp titled “Ride Wise, Stay Safe” on the college campus with the objective of creating awareness among students about traffic rules, road safety, and responsible citizenship. The programme commenced with an invocation by Ms. Suraksha and team (III B.Com) and a welcome address by Ms. Kshama (III Bmbt). The chief guests, Mr. Sundarraj S, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime & Traffic), Mysuru City; Mr. Mahadevswamy S, Inspector (Crime & Traffic), K.R. Traffic Police, Mysuru; and Ms. M. H. Rekha Bai, Inspector of Police (Crime & Traffic), K.R. Traffic Police, Mysuru, addressed the gathering on the importance of adhering to traffic rules, responsible riding, and essential safety measures. A Road Safety Oath-Taking Ceremony was led by Mr. Mahadevswamy S, followed by an interactive workshop session conducted by Mr. Athul Krishna, Assistant Manager, and Ms. Anoushka, Programme Coordinator, Triguna – The Science of Living, through quizzes and activities. As part of the CSR initiative, 250 helmets were distributed to students, reinforcing the importance of protective gear. The programme was presided over by Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal, who in her presidential address emphasized the role of youth in promoting road discipline. Mysuru, Jan. 25: The NSS Unit of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, inaugurated the NSS Camp at Sindhuvalli Government Higher Primary School on Sunday, with the aim of creating awareness about the goals and values of the National Service Scheme (NSS) and motivating students to actively engage in social service.
A total of 51 NSS volunteers and 100 villagers from Sindhuvalli and nearby areas participated in the programme . The inaugural function witnessed the gracious presence of Prof. Bharathi, Principal of MMK & SDM MMV, Prof. Nayana Kumari, Principal of PUC MMK & SDM MMV, along with members of the School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC), Gram Panchayat members, and the President and Vice-President of the Gram Panchayat.
During the programme, the dignitaries emphasized the importance of community service, social responsibility, and youth participation in nation-building activities through NSS. The camp activities were formally inaugurated, marking the beginning of a series of service-oriented programmes planned for the camp duration.
The inaugural session proved effective, as students gained a clear understanding of the objectives and core values of NSS and were inspired to participate in social service activities with greater responsibility, commitment, and enthusiasm.
On 26th January, 2026,MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, in association with MMK and SDM Girls’ PU College, Krishnamurthypuram, Mysore, celebrated the 77th Republic Day with great patriotism and enthusiasm on the college campus on Monday.
The programme commenced with an invocation by Ms. Inchara and team (II B.Sc), creating a solemn atmosphere. Ms. Varsha (III BCA) delivered the welcome address and introduced the dignitaries. The National Flag was hoisted by the dignitaries, followed by a patriotic song rendered by Ms. Manya and team (II B.Sc), which inspired the audience.
Students delivered speeches highlighting the significance of Republic Day, the values of the Indian Constitution, and the duties of responsible citizens. The Chief Guest, Shri Chinnaswamy Vaddagere, Agriculturist and Author from Gundlupet, Chamarajanagar, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of the Constitution and the ideals enshrined in the Preamble.
The programme was presided over by Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal, MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, who encouraged students to uphold constitutional values in their academic and personal lives. The Department of Microbiology of MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya organized a guest lecture titled “Career – We Can Do It” on January 10, 2026, at the college auditorium. The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Global Association of Young Minds (GASYM).
Ms. Lorna Douville, Manager at Labcorp Drug Development, Danville, Indiana, United States, was the resource person for the session. She delivered an insightful talk on the evolving job market, highlighting emerging career sectors and the essential skill sets required for fresh graduates.
Ms. Douville emphasized the importance of soft skills, professional networking, and continuous learning, encouraging students to align their career aspirations with current industry trends. The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, during which students actively clarified their queries related to future career opportunities.
A total of 91 students benefited from the programme, which proved to be highly informative and motivating, inspiring students to approach their career planning with confidence and clarity.
On 22 January 2026, students of MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, actively took part in a Poster Making Competition on the theme “Swach Suraksh Bharath”, organized by the Mysore City Corporation. The competition aimed to sensitize young minds to the significance of cleanliness, hygiene, and civic responsibility in creating a safe and healthy nation.
Mahadevamma and Sinchana B. L. of II BCA ‘A’ represented the college with enthusiasm and creativity. Their posters conveyed powerful social messages through effective visual expression, showcasing both artistic talent and a clear understanding of the theme. The event saw participation from students of various institutions across the city, promoting healthy competition and civic awareness.
In recognition of her commendable effort, Mahadevamma received a consolation prize of ₹500 for her creative and impactful presentation. The students’ participation and achievement brought credit to the institution and motivated others to actively engage in socially relevant and creative initiatives.
Mysuru, January 20, 2025: A one-day hands-on workshop on High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) was successfully conducted for II B.Sc. Biochemistry, Microbiology and Biotechnology (BMBt) students of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya. The programme was organized by Smt. Meghana M., Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Biochemistry, at Mysore Analytical Service, Roopanagar.
The workshop was coordinated by Mr. Mahesha V. M., CEO and Director, Mysore Analytical Service, who also served as the resource person. A total of 26 students participated in the programme. The session commenced with an introductory lecture on the principles and instrumentation of HPLC, followed by a hands-on session on sample preparation by Ms. Nagashree, Technical Expert.
In the post-lunch session, students received practical training in sample loading, method execution, and instrument handling, including the estimation of paracetamol content in commercial tablets such as Dolo 650. Participants also learned chromatogram interpretation, calibration curve preparation, and data analysis. A quiz was conducted to assess learning outcomes. The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates and kits, and was widely appreciated for effectively integrating theory with practical application.
The Literary Committee of MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysore organized a Story Writing Competition on 19 January 2026 to encourage creative thinking and imaginative expression among students. The event was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Bharathi N, Principal, and Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator.
A total of 22 students participated and presented original stories based on their creative ideas within the stipulated time. The entries showcased diverse themes, strong language skills, and originality.
The competition was evaluated by Ms. Brunda R, Head and Assistant Professor, Department of English, and Dr. Arun Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Kannada. ವಿಚಾರ ಸಂಕಿರಣವನ್ನು ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಪ್ರಾಧಿಕಾರದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಪ್ರೊ. ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ಬಿಳಿಮಲೆಯವರು, ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ತನ್ನದೇ ಆದ ವಿವೇಕ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದು, ಓದುಗರನ್ನು ಸದಾ ಎಚ್ಚರದಲ್ಲಿರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ವಚನಕಾರರು ಮತ್ತು ದಾಸರು ಜನಸಾಮಾನ್ಯರ ಪರವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ತ್ಯಾಗವನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸಿದವರು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ಕನ್ನಡ ವರ್ಣಮಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 52 ಅಕ್ಷರಗಳನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಿರುವುದು ಅಂದಿನ ವ್ಯಾಕರಣಕಾರರ ವಿವೇಕದ ಪ್ರತೀಕವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದರು. ಕವಿರಾಜಮಾರ್ಗದ ಪರವಿಚಾರ ಸಹಿಷ್ಣತೆ, ರಾಮಾಯಣ–ಮಹಾಭಾರತಗಳ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳು ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ಜೀವಂತಿಕೆಯ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟರು.
ಮೊದಲ ಗೋಷ್ಠಿಯಲ್ಲಿ “ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತತೆ” ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಪ್ರಥಮ ದರ್ಜೆ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಹಿರಿಯಡಕದ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ಪ್ರೊ. ಜಯಪ್ರಕಾಶ್ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ವಿಚಾರ ಮಂಡಿಸಿದರು. “ನಡುಗನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ: ಸಮಕಾಲೀನ ನೋಟ” ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಮದ್ರಾಸ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಲಯದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಹಾಯಕ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರಾದ ಡಾ. ಎಂ. ರಂಗಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಮಂಡಿಸಿದರು.

Ms. Sowmya N and Ms. Kavya Pujar, Assistant Professors in the Department of Computer Science,MMK and SDM MMV, actively participated in the RUSA-sponsored Two-Day Hands-on Workshop (FIoTRTA-2026) on “Fundamentals of IoT, its Emerging Trends, and Real-Time Applications”. The workshop was held on 16th and 17th January 2026, organized by the Department of Studies in Computer Science, Manasagangotri, University of Mysore.
The sessions were facilitated by Mr. Ravi Kumar, Chief Technology Officer & Marketing Head of Byte Mate Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, who served as the distinguished resource person. His expertise provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the Internet of Things (IoT), covering both foundational concepts and advanced developments in the field. The Program provided participants with foundational knowledge of IoT and practical exposure to emerging applications. The Participants gained hands-on skills in IoT device integration, real-time data applications, and insights into industry trends.
The Commerce Club organized an intraclass competition for B.Com students on 16 January 2026 under the coordination of Mr. Syed Sadath. The competition witnessed active participation from 61 students.
The winning team comprised Moulya M.S., Shreya D.U., Sanjana M.R., Sanjana K., Syeda Rukhaiya Fathima, and Namratha S. The runner-up team included Sugunashree M., Maheshwari, Keerthana K.S., Pragathi K., Prachi, and Sinchana P. Both the winners and runners-up belonged to I B.Com ‘B’ Section.
The objective of the intraclass competition was to provide students with a platform to apply theoretical commerce concepts to practical situations, enhance critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, and promote healthy competition and collaboration among students. The event also aimed to encourage greater interest and understanding in commerce and business studies.
Hema P., a B.Com. student (2022–2025 batch) of MMK and SDM Women’s College, Krishnamurthupuram, Mysuru, has secured the highest marks in Sanskrit (379 out of 400) among degree students of the University of Mysore. In recognition of this academic achievement, she was awarded the Smt. G. S. Vijayalakshmi Endowment Cash Prize at the 106th Annual Convocation of the University of Mysore, held on 05 January 2026 at Crawford Hall.
MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, successfully concluded the 120-Hour Cyber Security Training Program under the Tech4All CSR Initiative of Cognizant Foundation India with a Valedictory Program held on 20/01/2026. The program was organized by the Co-Curricular Committee and the Department of Computer Science in association with ICT Academy. The training was conducted for final-year B.Sc. and BBA students, with the participation of 60 students, focusing on building industry-relevant cybersecurity skills and promoting digital safety awareness.
The valedictory function was graced by dignitaries including Smt. Ramya S K, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, Mr. Prajwal Vasishta, Senior Relationship Manager, ICT Academy, Mr. Adarsh Somara, Cyber Security Trainer, and Ms. Sowmya N, Coordinator, Co- curricular Committee. Ms. Swathi K. was awarded the Annapoorna Kamath Memorial Gold Medal (Endowment Prize) for securing the highest marks in Biochemistry during the 106th Annual Convocation of the University of Mysore, held at Crawford Hall, Mysuru.
She secured an outstanding 1161 marks out of 1200 in Biochemistry, earning the prestigious award in recognition of her academic excellence, dedication, and strong conceptual understanding of the subject. The convocation ceremony celebrated meritorious students from various disciplines and marked a significant academic milestone.
Ms. Swathi K.’s achievement has brought laurels to the Department of Biochemistry, MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, and the University of Mysore.
The Department of Computer Science organized an Internet Awareness Program on 13 January 2026 at Computer Science Lab–1. The program was organized under the guidance of Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, Head, Department of Computer Science, and coordinated by Smt. Rajitha V and Smt. Jyothilakshmi G Kava, Associate Professors, Department of Computer Science.
The program benefited 19 students of 8th and 9th standard from Government High School, Lakshmipuram, Mysore. The objective of the program was to create awareness about basic computer applications and safe, effective use of the internet. Students were introduced to word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools, and the importance of digital platforms in higher education and professional environments. The session also highlighted the need to critically evaluate online information and avoid misinformation.

To mark National Youth Day and commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a book exhibition was organized at the MMK & SDM MMV Library, Mysuru, on 12th January 2026. The exhibition featured a curated collection of books highlighting the life, teachings, and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda. The event witnessed active participation, with 145 students and 11 faculty members visiting and viewing the exhibition.
Blood Donation Drive Held at MMK & SDM MMV A Blood Donation Drive was successfully organized on 10th of January, 2026, at the college auditorium. The programme was conducted by the Entrepreneurship Hub in association with Young Indians (YI), Mysuru Chapter, Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM), Raised Lines Foundation, and K. R. Hospital Blood Bank.

Mrs. Priyanka Sridhar, Chair, YI Mysuru, Dr. Kusuma, Medical Officer, Blood Bank, Mysuru, and Prof. K. S. Sukrutha, Vice Principal, MMK & SDM MMV, were the guests of honour. The program was coordinated by Mr. Niranth M R, coordinator, Entrepreneurship Hub of the college.
The drive witnessed active participation from both visually impaired and regular students, conveying a strong message of inclusivity and social responsibility. A total of 13 student volunteers took part in the programme, and 30 units of blood were collected. The event highlighted that visually impaired individuals can also confidently donate blood, creating a meaningful impact on society. Faculty members of the Entrepreneurship Hub attended and supported the initiative.
Industrialist Interaction Programme Held at MMK & SDM MMV The Department of M.Com organized an Industrialist Interaction – Classroom to Corporate Practice programme on December 26, 2025, at the college auditorium, aiming to bridge the gap between academic learning and corporate realities.
Mr. Goutham Shetty, HRIR Operations and HR Trainer at Radico Khaitan, Mysuru, was the resource person for the programme. He shared valuable insights on corporate culture, professional ethics, workplace behavior, and industry expectations, enabling students to understand real-time industrial practices.
The interaction helped students gain practical knowledge of corporate functioning, improved their awareness of employability skills such as communication and leadership, and provided clarity on career opportunities in commerce and management fields. The programme also motivated students towards effective career planning and skill development while strengthening industry–academia interaction.
The session was coordinated by Dr. Devaki K. K., Assistant Professor, Department of M.Com. The programme benefited 40 M.Com students, who actively participated and interacted with the resource person.. Faculty members Smt. Amritha and Sri. Manu Prasad was present and supported the successful conduct of the programme.
One-Day International Workshop titled “Yogic Lifestyle for Focus, Clarity and Success” The PG Department of Commerce organized a One-Day International Workshop titled “Yogic Lifestyle for Focus, Clarity and Success”on 10/12/25 in the auditorium of MMKSDM COLLEGE. The workshop aimed to create awareness on the importance of yogic practices in enhancing mental clarity, emotional balance, and overall professional and academic success among students and faculty members. Dr. Sharada Devi,Chief Guest & Resource Person delivered an inspiring session on yogic living and its impact on focus and personal productivity. She emphasized the role of mindfulness and disciplined routines in achieving success.Dr. Raghavendra Pai,Resource Person conducted an insightful session on practical yoga techniques and their psychological benefits. He introduced simple and effective yogic practices suitable for students .Presidential Remarks were given by Prof. Bharathi, Principal, addressed the gathering and highlighted the need for holistic education. She encouraged students to integrate yoga into their daily lives for academic excellence and emotional well-being.The program coordinator was Dr.Devaki K.K, and cocoordinator Smt.Amritha .P.Nayak.
MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, inaugurated the 120-Hour Cyber Security Training on Jan 6th 2026. The program is organized by the Co-Curricular Committee and Computer Science Department in association with ICT Academy and is supported by Cognizant Foundation India under its CSR initiative Tech4All. The training is being conducted for final-year *B.Sc. and BBA students, with a total participation of 60 students, aiming to enhance industry-relevant cybersecurity knowledge and digital safety awareness.
The inaugural function was presided over by Prof. N. Bharathi, Principal of the college. The dignitaries on the dais included Smt. K. S. Sukrutha, IQAC Coordinator; Mr. Vishnu Prasad, Deputy Relationship Manager, ICT Academy; Mr. Prajwal Vasishta Senior Relationship Manager, ICT Academy; Mr. Pavan Kalyan, Project Coordinator, ICT Academy; Mr. Adarsh Somara, Cyber Security Trainer; and Ms. Sowmya N, ICT SPOC and Program Coordinator.
The Cyber Security Training Program is coordinated by Ms. Sowmya N, ICT SPOC, and mentored by Ms. Rajeshwari N and Ms. Kavyashree K L. The training sessions are being conducted by Mr. Adarsh Somara, who brings industry expertise and practical exposure in the field of cybersecurity.
