Mysuru's MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya (MMK & SDM MMV) has been honored as the ‘Most Engaged Institutions of the Year’ at the ‘ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Academy Bridge 2025’ for its outstanding contributions to academic and institutional engagement.  

The prestigious award was conferred by Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), during the conference at The Lalit Ashok in Bengaluru, on November 7, in the presence of ICT Academy's Assistant Vice Presidents Dr Narendra, and Raghav Srinivas, along with Chief Executive Officer Srikanth, Deputy General Manager D. Vishnu Prasad, and Senior Relationship Manager Prajwal Vasista. 

Additionally, Sowmya N., Coordinator of the Co-curricular Committee of MMK & SDM MMV, was felicitated with the ‘Best Coordinator Award’ in coordinating collaborative activities and enhancing student engagement. Ujwala Shetty, Assistant Professor of English and Prathima M., Assistant Professor of Commerce were also present during the event.

ಎಂ.ಎಂ.ಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀ ಧರ್ಮಸ್ಥಳ ಮಂಜುನಾಥೇಶ್ವರ ಮಹಿಳಾ ಮಹಾವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಕನ್ನಡ ವಿಭಾಗದ ನುಡಿಯತ್ನ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಂಘವು ಐಕ್ಯೂಎಸಿ ಘಟಕದ ಸಹಯೋಗದೊಂದಿಗೆ ೭೦ನೇ ಕನ್ನಡ ರಾಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸವ ಹಾಗೂ ನಾಡಗೀತೆ ನೂರರ ಸಂಭ್ರಮದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಇಂದು ಕಾಲೇಜು ಸಭಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿತು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕಿ ಡಾ. ಎಚ್. ಎಂ. ಕಲಾಶ್ರೀ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, “ಹಿಂಸೆಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿ ಹಿಂಸೆ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಮನಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲ. ಅಖಂಡ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಕನಸು, ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಅಸ್ಮಿತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹೃದಯ ವೈಶಾಲ್ಯತೆ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ರಕ್ತಗತವಾದ ಗುಣವಾಗಿದೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಅವರು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯತೆ ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಡು ನುಡಿ ನಡೆದು ಬಂದಿದ್ದು, ಭಾರತವನ್ನು ತಾಯಿಯೆಂದು, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ಮಗಳೆಂದು ಕರೆಯುವ ರಾಜ್ಯವಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ, “ನುಡಿ ಜಾಗೃತವಾಗದೆ ನಾಡು ಜಾಗೃತವಾಗದು” ಎಂದು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಿದರು. ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಡು ಉಪಭಾಷೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಉಪಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗಳ ಅನನ್ಯ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಅನುಸಂಧಾನದಿಂದ ಮೂರು ಸಾವಿರಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಹೊರ ರಾಜ್ಯದವರನ್ನು ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿಸಿ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರೀತಿ, ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಶ್ವಾಸದ ಮೂಲಕ ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಲಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಸಲಹೆ ನೀಡಿದರು. “ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಕೈ ಒಡೆಯುವ ಕೈ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಕೊಡುವ ಕೈ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಕನ್ನಡ ಇಂದು ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಭಾಷೆಯಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆದಿದ್ದು, ಕೃತಕ ಬುದ್ಧಿಮತ್ತೆಯ ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನೆ ಹಳೆಗನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಅಡಗಿದೆ ಎಂದರು.

ಅವರು ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಿ, ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಾಲಕ್ಕೂ ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಕನ್ನಡವು ನಿತ್ಯ ಹೊಸತನವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುವ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿದೆ. ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಕಲಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂವಹನಕ್ಕೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾದರೂ, ಭಾವಪೂರ್ಣತೆಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಮಾತೃಭಾಷೆಯಾದ ಕನ್ನಡವೇ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟರು. ಕುವೆಂಪು ಅವರ “ಸರ್ವ ಜನಾಂಗದ ಶಾಂತಿಯ ತೋಟದಲ್ಲಿ” ಎಂಬ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಿ, ಯುವ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಯು ಕನ್ನಡತನವನ್ನು ಬದುಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅನುಸರಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕರೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿದ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲೆ ಪ್ರೊ. ಭಾರತಿ ಎನ್  ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕೆ ಹಲವು ಸವಾಲುಗಳಿದ್ದರೂ ಅದು ಎಂದೆಂದಿಗೂ ನಿತ್ಯ ನೂತನವಾಗಿ ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿರುವ ಭಾಷೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. 

“ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆ ಬಳಕೆಗೆ ಕೀಳಾಗಿ ನೋಡುವ ಮನಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿ, ಕನ್ನಡವನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಬೇಕು. ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಸ್ಥಾನಮಾನ ಪಡೆದಿರುವ ಕನ್ನಡ ಇಂದು ವಿಶ್ವದ ಸುಂದರ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿದೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಯುವ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಯು ಕನ್ನಡ ಬಳಕೆಯನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿ ಬೆಳೆಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಅವರು ಕರೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಪದವಿ ಪೂರ್ವ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲೆ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ನಯನ ಕುಮಾರಿ, ಐಕ್ಯೂಎಸಿ ಸಂಚಾಲಕರ  ಡಾ. ಕೆ.ಎಸ್. ಸುಕೃತ, ಕನ್ನಡ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥೆ ಡಾ. ವಿನೋದ, ಅಧ್ಯಾಪಕರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಬಿ.ಎನ್. ಮಾರುತಿ ಪ್ರಸನ್ನ, ಡಾ. ಅರುಣ್ ಕುಮಾರ್, ಹಾಗೂ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಅಧ್ಯಾಪಕ-ಅಧ್ಯಾಪಕೇತರ ವೃಂದದವರು ಹಾಗೂ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿಯರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.

On 3rd and 4th November 2025, three faculty members from the Department of English, MMK and SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mysuru, presented research papers at the Two-Day International Conference on “The Confluence of Cinema, Literature & Culture” organized by the Department of Studies and Research in English, KSOU, Mysuru.Ms. Brunda R., Head & Assistant Professor, presented “Intersecting Voices: Womanhood at the Crossroads of Cinema, Literature, and Culture in The Help and The Color Purple,” examining intersectional womanhood in film and literature. Ms. Ujwala S. Shetty, Assistant Professor, presented “Rewriting Womanhood: The Portrayal of Women in Jane Austen’s Emma and Mike Newell’s Mona Lisa Smile,” highlighting evolving depictions of women across textual and cinematic narratives. Ms. Vani Hemant, Assistant Professor, presented “Reimagining the Kannada Woman: A Comparative Analysis of Kuvempu’s and Girish Karnad’s Kanooru Heggadithi,” focusing on cultural and regional representations of Kannada womanhood. Their presentations reflected the department’s academic engagement and contributed significantly to interdisciplinary dialogues. All three papers have been published in LangLit, an international peer-reviewed open-access journal (ISSN 2349-5189).
