Title: Yo Where Did The Floor Go?
WidthxHeight: 17"x12"
For this project, we had to follow our question. I changed mine to "How can we balance the background with a story?" I left the story up to interpretation, but the background itself was meant to be blank with floating buildings. The buildings are wonky and breaking, but somehow still standing. I showed these white tentacles reaching up to grab everything, kind of like a demon pulling things to hell.
The subject of my work is a man. The piece was made with blue textured paper and charcoal. I wanted to practice my human anatomy a bit more. There's a tank top in his hand and a sword in the other. He has a big X on his face because his identity isn't important. Since the story is up to interpretation, I wanted this to be as broad as possible. I kinda started creating a story in my head (kind of like "the end of days"), and then balanced the background with it.
I used color, form, texture and space in this piece. I am kind of happy with how the shading came out. I'm iffy about this piece but it did come out decent when you compare it to the time I had to work on it. I think I could have changed a bit of the anatomy to look more natural but that's a little too late now.
