Paper Sculpture

The subject of my work is a lonely person, going through water. The setting is the ocean, and in the background, you can see an island, and from the island, there are waves. The work was made with paper and glue. I chose to create this because I've been feeling really lonely recently. The work is arranged starting from a poster board, and using the blue colors, I created the ocean. Using other darker colors, I created the boat and the island. I used shape, color, form, texture and space. I used pattern a lot.

I wanted to have a person in a cave, and create that "bumpy" effect, with the (what are now) waves, as the cave. I wanted to have the cave going completely around the base, where there is only 1 corner where you can view what the inside looks like. I didn't have enough, so I just changed my idea but still kept the idea of being lonely.

The meaning behind it is how lonely I feel. I feel like i'm lost at sea, and the waves that are going to go on top of me, makes me feel like i'm going to die alone. I really wanted to make this bigger, but oh well.
