Scholastics #2

Title: California Fires

WidthxHeight: 8"x11"

For this project, we had to create something for scholastics. I decided to make something for the one earth category. That being said, this piece was inspired off of the forest fires in California right now. It only seems to be that California is always covering some sort of fire and I see California as red because of that.

The subject of my work is the forest, followed by an obvious smokey fire and the bird flying away. The piece was made with water color -- something I've never used before. I always seem to avoid it for some reason, but it was okay. I'm not really happy with this piece, but I'm also not upset by it. I think it came out decent.

I used color, form, texture and space in this piece. I really like the way the smoke came out. I don't really enjoy the way the trees were made, I wish I used a different style of trees. I'm iffy about this piece but it did come out decent when you compare it to the time I had to work on it.
