High Tech Treehouse
5 in x 8 in
Colored pencil & pen
The evident idea of this WhatchamaDRAWit piece is a high tech treehouse. I was inspired by industrial materials, like steel and digital clocks. This piece relates to my life because although I'm a very adventurous and creative person, I also like the look of high-tech and sleek designs. To make my drawing, I started by sketching the tree and the treehouse, then used different sizes of Micron pens to trace and add shadows. I used colored pencils to add color. When I first went in with the pens, I didn't originally plan on adding the score marks, but I thought that it would look more dimensional and define my style a bit more.
It evolved in other ways, too, as I decided to burnish the colored pencil after I colored it normally. I thought the trunk, the the green parts especially, looked much better with burnishing in addition to the scoring.
My next steps could be adding more dimension or subjects in the background, instead of just shading with colored pencil. However, I am very happy with how my WhatchamaDRAWit came out.
