Acrylic on wood

For this assignment, we were asked to create a work of art for the Inclusion contest, which is used to promote inclusion of those who are diagnosed with mental and physical disabilities. For my design, I decided to paint a ski mountain with people skiing with disabilities.

To make this work, I started by putting three layers of gesso mixed with light blue paint on a wooden frame. Once it was dry, I painted the background of my ski mountain with white and blue paint. I used a variety of colors to create the layers of backgrounds. Once that was dry, I painted the trees in the foreground and the background using black, green, and white acrylic paint. I researched ways that people with mental or physical disabilities are able to ski, and then painted people on the mountain with different disabilities.

Overall, I am very happy with how my inclusion design turned out. If I could go back and change anything, I would maybe add more people in the foreground and the background so that it would be more colorful and there would be more to look at.
