Abstract Emotion Design

For this assignment, we started by filling out a worksheet where we had to create non-representational designs for many different emotions. Once I did so, I picked my sleepy/tired design and created a piece of print making from it. I decided to make my design into a branch with leaves and a bird's nest because it worked with the lines and it reminded me of being sleepy. I started with a piece of linoleum and traced out my design. I then used the carving tools to carve out the design and a border. I used black printing ink and bristol paper to put it on paper. Once the ink was dry on paper, I used a few different watercolor paints to add color to the print. Overall, I am very happy with my piece and I am glad I did print making with this project because I think the lines look good when used with this material. If I could go back and change anything about this piece, I might have added more designs, like a bird or a cloud and made my piece bigger.
