Paper Reflection Sculpture

Discovery

For this assignment, we were given one piece of drawing paper to make a sculpture that represented a word to describe our first semester experience. My word was discovery, so I thought that a bicycle would represent that word.

To begin, I cut two long strips of paper and got them wet, then twisting them tight to start the wheels. I molded them around a round container and painted liquid glue on them so that they would keep their shape. For the rest of the bike parts, I folded paper to make thin, long pieces that acted as the connecting parts, the handle bars, the bike seat, and the spokes between the wheels. I had to use some tape to keep my sculpture together.

If I could change anything about my sculpture, I would try to use less tape and I would add more detail, like pedals and a kickstand. Overall, for my first sculpture, I am happy with the finished product.
