Beautiful Oops

Sky Dive

10 in x 7 in

Oil pastel & pen

My beautiful oops idea was to make a skydiver and an airplane. I thought the main ink splatter looked like a skydiver, and there was a circle ink splatter above it that looked like a propeller on an airplane. This can relate to my life because I am afraid of heights, so this would be something I would do to face a fear.

I started by sketching out the airplane and then traced it with fine points pens. From there, I used chalk pastel to make the background and blended it with my fingers.

I experimenting with using different shade of blue chalk pastel. My project evolved from wanting to use colored pencil, to using chalk pastel. Emily Perilla had the materials at her house, so I decided to go out of my comfort zone and use a material I never have before.

My next steps could be adding more of a background to take the focus all over the page and include more color. I could do this as a landscape beneath the skydiver, or add warmer colors for the allusion of a sunset.
