Inclusion

For my inclusion project, I was inspired by the diverse people in all communities. I wanted to do something that was inspired by frames and different colors. I also wanted to include different types of people to reflect diversity but also inclusion. I started by sketching my idea and then tracing something similar onto a piece of linoleum. I made four separate boxes with faceless people in each, one representing something different. The first one was race, the second sickness, then disability, then religion. Each can be interpreted multiple ways, but that was my inspiration. After I carved them out and printed them with black ink on bristol paper, I used oil based paint markers to make each one have a different background. I originally wanted to do the whole rainbow, but I couldn't find linoleum long enough and I thought it would take away from the effect. If I could go back and change something about my piece, I would try to make my prints a little more crisp with thinner lines and more detail, because their lack of color could make up for it. I would also add more people and make two separate linoleum prints to print next to each other.
