In this real world activity you are going to use your physical sketch as a guide to recreate the "Perspective" Building Scene that you completed on paper.
Just imagine that you are drawing this scene again, but this time you are doing it digitally, once you get started, it will be a lot faster since you will have "anchor" point for your lines and you can erase very easily :)
Follow the tips below and be sure you can "see" the horizon when you get started.
Note: You are not using the 3D features of SketchUp for this project, but drawing in 2D and using what you have learner about perspective to give it the illusions of depth.
Don't worry if it takes you a few times to figure this out - is is great practice. If you make a mess, just erase, or start new - that is the power of digital art.
1. Get on the correct "plane" to start with, you are drawing a box, just as if you were drawing it on a piece
of paper. Start with the girl or guy standing straight up and looking at you.
You are not using the 3d features of Sketch-Up on the this project. You are just using the
drawing technique of perspective in a digital environment, relying on a vanishing point.
GET A GOOD START
You can use the Rectangle Tool to draw a box on the vertical plane
(not flat on the ground like the dog house) See sample picture, it must be on the vertical plan, not flat
Start with a basic rectangle on the vertical plane (just like you did in the hand drawing - see picture below)
Use the Pencil to draw all straight lines to the vanishing point.
Use the eraser to remove segments of lines you don't need
Use the Paint bucket to paint areas in to make them easier to follow
Follow the same process you did for drawing on paper
Use the "component" feature to add trees at the very end
Use the "materials" feature to provide some textures, a cool fence etc.
Be sure to PUT YOUR NAME(s) on the sky (use the text tool)
Download as an image file and turn into Google Classroom
When you are finished you will have a masterpiece that looks something
like this......
