Now you will put your modeling skills to the test and create the following four objects.
Be sure to WATCH the VIDEO tutorials provided for each of these items (look below).. there are some features that are tricky (like using the "sweep" for the mug handle)... so guessing is not a good
option.
Create them in this order - some of the skills build on each other.
1. Umbrella (uses the "revolve" feature)
2. Vase (uses the "revolve" & "shell" features)
3. Coffee Mug (uses the "shell" & "sweep" features -need to watch entire video)
4. Cube Puzzle
Learn how to use the "Revolve" to create an Umbrella
Watch this brief tutorial on how to use the "revolve" feature to create and umbrella ... take your time and follow each step... it is easier than it looks.

The Scottish Sweep
Watch this super short video and try a practice "sweep" before you attempt the Mug Handle
The MurphMug Handle..
Watch the Entire Coffee Mug video below- shows TWO methods for creating the Handle.
I have a similar approach to using the "sweep" tool.
1. I turn on the visibility of the work planes I need (find them in the left browser, righclick)
2. Add your sketch to the correct plane but clicking on the plane then adding sketch
The Mug Handle Sweep needs two sketches, on for the "profile" + one for the "path"
3. Create your two sketches
4. Use the sweep tool - to create the handle
** I used the "center point" arc** for the handle
5. Double click on the appropriate sketches to make and necessary adjustments
See this example:
This is cool but a bit tricky since you have to start understanding and using different
Work Planes (think about the presentation in class)
Here are some pictures that might help you. There are many ways to accomplish the same objective
with CAD software.
In my method I created a Tangent and Parallel workplace to create Sketch of a circle
that would be the the "Profile" of my handle when I use the "Sweep" tool.
Watch the Scottish Sweep video above and try one before attempting the Mug
Visibility of the Work Plans
In order to add sketches to the correct work planes, you need to be able to see them.
In the left column find the work plans and scroll over till you find the one you want, then
right click or control click and "turn on visibility"... you can turn it off later.
