Follow each step in this tutorial and you will learn the basics of animation by making the Toad blink, walk and move his arm all at the same time.
It may seem difficult at first, but follow the tutorial and the steps and you will get it to work. You have to read and follow the instructions...
Keep in mind that Animation is a very technical process, so don't skip steps like converting objects to movie clips, clicking to work inside the object etc...or else you will have issues downstream!!
Be sure to create different "scenes" for each of the parts, Eye, Arm, Feet etc... then the Final Scene with be the combination of all the working "parts".
Here are the the link to my Animation pages for the Toad. You only need to download the "Parts.fla" file ONE TIME - then Save AS and rename it to your file.
Have fun...
Adding Sound To Your Movie
Nothing makes adds to your Toad cartoon like some good traveling background music or sounds.
The process is the same for music or sound effects.
First test your movie by using CONTROL>>TEST SCENE - if you completed the project properly then
the Toad, Hills, Cloud etc.. will all move nicely.
You will have more than one LAYER, but should only have ONE FRAME 0r else adding music will be problematic..(see picture here)
FOLLOW THIS PROCESS
1. Add a new layer just for sound.
2. LOCK all your layers except for the Sound Layer so you don't mess anything up.
3. Import the sound you downloaded sound to the Library.. FILE>>IMPORT TO LIBRARY
4. Click in the first keyframe of the sound layer... then DRAG THE SOUND FILE FROM THE LIBRARY to the main stage.... you will see the sound wave form appear in the single key frame.
5. Control Test The Scene and you should be all set - listen for a while to make sure.
6. Now SAVE and choose File Export Movie and use the .SWF format.
Downloading Sounds
Go to my "Sound Effects" page and follow the directions.
Only school appropriate lyrics/sounds, or your cartoon will be a silent movie!!

Finishing Up The Toad - Step by Step
Before you finish up the cartoon and Export Flash File as Movie (both .SWF and QuickTime)
1. FIRST: "SAVE AS" your flash project and call it FINAL (this is important as it creates a back up file of your project))
2. Now DELETE all the extra scenes, except the final scene. (caution not to delete the main scene during this process or you cannot get it back)
3. Choose File Export Movie -
4. Create a .SWF (shockwave version) Then do it again and Choose QuickTime
(pay attention to where you are saving your files)
