EscherSketch
This is cool online app creates all sorts of shapes and patterns, especially wall paper designs and prints -but it is a bit complicated.
Getting Started
1. Watch the 4 min overview video
(if the video disappears, click the ? in the upper left to get it back)
2. Experiment: Like with all these online Art tools, the are lots of features to learn though exploration, so take a day to tinker and try everything!
3. Create Examples of the 6 Line Tools on a single canvas
4. Download this as a Picture/Image image.
The Line Tools
pencil
freehand drawing tool, stroke-only, variable smoothing factor

draws single line segments between two points

draws a straight-sided regular polygon or star

draws circles, ellipses, and arcs from three points

3. Clear The Video: Click the ? in the upper left.
4. Start Designing
Spend some time on the link below and choose THREE PATTERNS that you will recreate using your skillsin EscherSketch. There are dozens to pick from
For Each Pattern
1. Your design must look like the sample pattern you chose.
2. Include at least two different colors in your pattern (you can have more).
White will not be considered a color.
3. You MUST INCLUDE a screen shot of the pattern with the name, that you chose
to recreate, you will turn this into Google Classroom as along with your created image.

4. RENAME your eschersketch file after you have downloaded it to MATCH the NAME OF THE PATTERN before you turn it in.

Tips & Tricks
1. Turn on the "Hints" so the mouse over will tell you the name of the tool.
Click the "gear" icon and click "show hints"
2. Need a Colored Background?
Use the Polygon-Line tool to draw a rectangle as the background color.
Be sure to use Fill tool to select your background color before you draw the box - with the Polygon Tool. Hit Enter.
Do your background color layer before your pattern design.
Now that you have some experience with textile patterns, time to design your own!!
Create a unique multi-colored pattern.
Your design needs at least two colors. No transparent backgrounds.
Be ready to describe your pattern, the inspiration for the pattern and what you
are trying to convey with your design :) (Think Project Runway)

1. Think about your design, and what you want to create.
2. Create the design in EscherSketch. Download completed image file. (Save Picture)
3. Use the Google Slide Template below, (Make A Copy) and complete like the sample here.
4. Be sure to include all the necessary information.
6. Use Files>> SAVE AS JPEG when done, then turn in the JPEG file to Google Classroom
7. DO NOT TURN IN A GOOGLE SLIDE doc for this project - JPEG image file only, or zero points for not following directions :(
