Grade/Class: Pre-Nursery
Context: Students learn about parsha of the week.
Learning: Pre-Nursery students learned about Parshat Noach and completed a variety of STEM activities and experiments to engage in the parsha. To begin, children selected various objects and predicted whether they would sink or float. The excitement in the room was palpable as they eagerly observed the immediate results of their predictions. Then they ventured into the realm of creativity and sensory play by making rainbow play dough. The children actively participated in measuring and mixing the ingredients, developing their fine motor skills and mathematical understanding. Subsequently, they painted the dough, transforming it into a vibrant rainbow. Through this activity, the children experienced the beauty of colors and connected with the rainbow symbol in the story of Noach. Lastly, as a collaborative project, they created a large Teivah for the classroom bulletin board. The children enthusiastically painted the Teivah, and once it dried, they joyfully adorned it with animal cut-outs. Through these hands-on experiences, the children developed a deeper understanding of the story of Noach and the Teivah. They connected with the themes of prediction, exploration, creativity, and collaboration. Moreover, the activities provided an opportunity for sensory engagement, fine motor skill development, and visual representation.
