3D Shapes

Grade/Class: Grade 1 Math

Context: In Math, students learn about the names and properties of various 3D shapes.

Learning: Students were challenged to create their own 3D shapes using plasticine and pasta. This hands-on project allowed the students to apply their understanding of the names and properties of various 3D shapes in a practical and tactile manner. They carefully manipulated the plasticine and pasta to mold and assemble their shapes, taking into account the specific characteristics and features of each shape. Upon completing their designs, the students went a step further and labeled the number of faces, edges, and vertices for each shape. This activity was a great way for students to develop spatial reasoning skills and practice communicating math concepts to each other.
