Grade/Class: Grade 7 STEM
Context: Students study the properties of heat and how it is used by people in the world.
Learning: In an exciting exploration of heat transfer, students engaged in a science experiment to determine the most effective method for roasting a marshmallow. The experiment revolved around three stations, each representing a different mode of heat transfer: conduction, convection, and radiation.
Through this hands-on exploration, the students not only gained a practical understanding of heat transfer but also developed important scientific skills. They learned to make observations, analyze data, and draw conclusions based on their findings. Additionally, the students had the opportunity to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they evaluated which method of heat transfer was most effective for roasting the marshmallow.
