Grade/Class: Grade 6G
Context: 6G learn about topics related to becoming a bat mitzvah in Mechanechet class, and study various texts in Humanities.
Learning: In Grade 6, the girls embarked on a year-long integrated project centred around the book, Honey and Me, which explores Jewish identity and becoming a bat mitzvah, along with broader themes of friendship and navigating difficult situations. This project was woven into the subjects of Mechanechet, Humanities, and Art, with teachers collaborating throughout the year in a Professional Learning Community (PLC). The book was read and studied in Humanities, providing a rich basis for discussion and exploration in Humanties and Mechanechet classes. The year culminated in a mini-conference/Yom Iyun featuring moderated discussions, a reflective art activity, and a special Q&A session with the author, Miera Drazin, bringing the project to an engaging and meaningful close.
