Grade/Class: Grade 7 Humanities
Context: In History, students have been learning about the rise and fall of New France.
Learning: Using the jigsaw inquiry method, students each researched one aspect of New France in depth and presented their findings to the class. Students had the opportunity to learn more about the government of New France, the Seigneurial system, relationships between French and First Nations, the importance of the fur trade, the colony of Acadia, as well as what daily life in New France looks like (food, clothing, economy, transportation, etc.). Students enjoyed having the opportunity to learn more about these topics from each other.
