Cultural Music - Popular Music
Musicians create music to express their emotions, feelings and ideas. To understand musicians' creations, elements of music and concepts are essential. We learn that there are different genres of popular music and pop music is one of them.
We worked as a group to prepare for our performance of popular music. We did some online research and decided on the piece by thinking of the skills of our group mates if they can play any musical instruments. We also tested out the timbre of the musical instruments and tried out with the appropriate rhythm, tempo and dynamics in mind.

Musical Productions Around Us - Operas
Through learning about operas, we learn how to appreciate musical productions with the expressions of the musical elements and concepts in mind. We understand that there are different ways of communication in music and learn that music and singing can be used to tell stories.
We compared a western opera "The Cunning Little Vixen" with operas from other cultures, namely Chinese, Malay, Bollywood or African, using Feldman's approach of DAIJ (Describe, Analyze, Interpret and Judge).
