Music Around Us - Music in Movies

Music plays an important part in movies. It evokes emotions and communicates ideas. Different emotions are expressed with different music played.

Using Song Maker from Chrome Music Lab, we applied what we learned about music in movies and composed the background music that is suitable for Spiderman 2. While composing, we needed to take into account the suitable timbre of the instruments, tempo and dynamics.

Cultural Music - Malay Music

Musicians express their feelings and ideas through their music pieces with the musical elements and concepts in mind. The instruments played in a particular culture are unique and evoke different feelings and emotions. We learn that through music, cultural heritage can be reserved.

To show that we can express ourselves in different emotions singing the same song, we changed the tempo and dynamics when we sang Chan Mali Chan so that different feeling would be expressed.

Musicians' statement: Our group sang Chan Mali Chan with overjoy emotion because we think that Chan Mali Chan is a happy song. Since the song was sung in overjoy emotion, we sang in andante and forte.

Musicians' statement: Our group sang Chan Mali Chan with terrifying emotion because we want to try the opposite feeling of Chan Mali Chan. Since the song was sung in terrifying emotion, we sang in adagio and piano.

We learn that rhythm is an important musical element in music making. Rhythm is the way that connects musicians and is a mode of communication with others. We learn using ordinary objects to create meaningful rhythm.
