Cultural Music - Southeast Asian Music

Musicians express their feelings and ideas through their music pieces with the musical elements and concepts in mind. The instruments played in a particular culture are unique and evoke different feelings and emotions. We learn that through music, cultural heritage can be reserved.

We learn that elephants in Thai culture are important. They are the official national animal in Thailand and they are respected by the Thais. There are many Thai songs that are about elephants. We have learned how to sing a Thai song about elephants called Pleeng Chang.

Musical Productions Around Us - Musicals

Through learning about musicals, we learn how to appreciate musical productions with the expressions of the musical elements and concepts in mind. We understand that there are different ways of communication in music and learn that music and singing can be used to tell stories.

We sang "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", a musical song from a musical The Lion King, and accompanied our singing with percussion instruments from GarageBand.
