Cultural Music - Southeast Asian Music
Musicians express their feelings and ideas through their music pieces with the musical elements and concepts in mind. The instruments played in a particular culture are unique and evoke different feelings and emotions. We learn that through music, cultural heritage can be reserved.
We learn that elephants in Thai culture are important. They are the official national animal in Thailand and they are respected by the Thais. There are many Thai songs that are about elephants. We have learned how to sing a Thai song about elephants called Pleeng Chang.

Musicians' statement: We made the drum simple and clapping soft because the song is a beat song but in our singing it does not come across, so that is why we make it soft. We added shakers to give the scary effect like you are in the jungle. We did not put anything in loud as then our voices will not be heard.

Musicians' statement: I got that music idea from a show Zootopia as the show features animals. My music is also like animals, so I also used the kick at forte to make it sound like the animals are walking. I use the shaker to make the lion’s footsteps with presto tempo yet the sound is at pianissimo. The snare sounds like the pounding of the animals. It is adagio and at forte. Lastly, I make the clap for it to be the hushing of the animal. It is to hush the animal’s son so that the lion does not eat them up.

Musicians' statement: We give a jungle song with a jungle vibe.
Kaysan
Musicians' statement: I recorded my voice in the um… er…toilet because the class was noisy. Anyways, here is my creation I want to make the song sounds catchy, but then it turns into some sort of nostalgic ballad or something. You can see, I mean, hear some drums and a…umm a… rock guitar. For dramatic effect….but it's still ok. Well, here is my work. I hope… u ….uh….like it.
Musician's statement: We use drum at piano dynamics and continuous beats together with our singing to make it sound better. The drum represents the lion roaring softly because it’s trying to sleep.
