Course overview - Study Periods 5 and 6
Learners in C10 will be undertaking exams for the first part of the study period. They will take exams in English Language and English Literature and they will cover all the content they have studied this year so far. After the exam period, they will complete their Speaking & Listening assessment. This is a short speech which is performed to the class on a topic of their choosing. They will then have the opportunity to answer questions on it. This is a separate endorsement to the main GCSEs but is compulsory.
In Study period 6, learners will move on to begin their study of ‘Macbeth’. This is a key text for their English Literature qualification. They will explore the context behind the play, looking at King James and his interests. They will also explore Shakespeare’s motivation in writing ‘Macbeth’ and then apply this to their analysis of the text itself.
