Course overview - Study Period 1, 2 and 3
Study Period 1 - The Cold War in Asia - Completed over the first half term. Learners begin by gaining an understanding of what the Cold War was and why it developed. The main unit focuses on how the Cold War played out in Asia by focusing on the Korean War and the Vietnam war. In the Korean war section of the unit, learners will study the causes, events and why it developed into a stalemate. When studying Vietnam, learners will again focus on the causes, events and will look at the different factors that led to the end of the war.

Assessment Points:
In class learners will focus on a new type of question, a ‘write an account’ style question. This asks them to explain an event chronologically as well as explain the impact of the event. Learners will complete an end of unit assessment for the Korean war, including a source question, an account question and an essay question. This end of unit assessment will take place around October half term.
Guidance:
Learners will receive guidance in a variety of ways. These include marked assessments, reports, feedback in books, 1:1 interaction, Google Classroom and close the gap activities.
