Course overview - Term 3 - Concertos through time
Learners will study the Concerto and its development from 1650 to 1910 through:
• the Baroque Solo Concerto
• the Baroque Concerto Grosso
• the Classical Concerto
• the Romantic Concerto
This topic looks at the Concerto structure through the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods of music, analysing the changes in musical features that reflect these changing styles. Context - learners will find this a more formal topic to study due to the nature of the style, however developing their theory knowledge at the start of the course will aid their understanding of this AoS. In addition, learners should have studied basic composition techniques.

Course overview - Study Period 4 - Rhythms of the world
Learners will study the traditional rhythmic roots from two geographical regions of the world, Africa and Central and South America.
They will study the specific genres of traditional African drumming and traditional Calypso and Samba.
