Time 4 Design
THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT SECTION AND AS MUCH DETAIL AS POSSIBLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED HERE.
The BRIEF...Summarizes clearly the results of a range of research, which includes how the information will influence their own solution.
Include a coherent design brief (in paragraph form) that connects the clients’ needs, and how the student’s product intends to solve the problem and any potential constraints (such as time, materials, etc.).
Tell us what you are going to make - imagine that you are telling your client exactly what you want to do - only if they agree will you move forward to develop specifics! Lenny Dutton
The BRIEF is a concise summary of all the information you have found out during your research.
collect all the important facts and data you have found from your research and state them here in this section.
whenever you use a part of this research make sure to refer to where it can be found in your appendix. For example (see appendix page3).
all of the important points that you say here should be referred back to whether or not it will help you solve the “design situation”.
what conclusions can you draw from doing this research?
Your Design brief must include:
Design Brief Statement precisely stating the following:
The design problem
The design goal towards the solution
Any determined values that the design must meet
The target audience or client
Clarify the essential and desirable features of a solution
What you would consider as a measure of a successful product
Cite and reference. Evaluate your sources with a CRAAP test, or an OPVL test
