Time 4 Design
Throughout Year 4 and 5 of MYP Design students will use a design cycle in their practical and inquiry-based approach to lessons and projects. This helps students to develop not only practical skills, creative and critical-thinking strategies, but also a real world approach to project based assessment. Over the academic year students complete a range of units that cover all aspects of Design through the Design Cycle, ultimately creating practical solutions to solve design problems or design challenges.
The tools, equipment, techniques and resources that are used vary depending on the specific unit. The main skills are 2D & 3D drawing, digital and product design, product design development and digital design development.
In all units of work, students are asked to identify important aspects of a problem and develop creative and innovative solutions. The Design courses are designed to create a balance between the learning of skills, and the acquisition of knowledge and techniques. Overall the main aim is to encourage curiosity, ingenuity and resourcefulness.
Also in year two of the new Design Curriculum for the Design subject. This new curriculum will allow students not only focus on their Design skills but also develop each unit concept based product development and approaches to learning. Really looking forward to working with some creative designers in 2017 -18 academic year.*
MYP 4 and 5 use different marking criterion. It is more detailed as students are expected to be more independent and autonomous.
