Task 1: Design Situation
Students will become familiar with the objectives and the needs of the client and develop logo designs based on
those goals.
A logo is a name, symbol or trademark designed for easy recognition and it represents the identity of a person, organisation,
product, brand or idea.
Rewrite the design situation in your own words and include the points highlighted in G-R-A-S-P in your paragraph.

Task 2: Explain and justify the need for a solution to a problem
Step 1: Create a visual Brainstorm (a mind map) of drawings and descriptive words that identify your client.
Remember, you are designing a logo to represent your client and what they stand for.

Step 2: Explain, “Why your client needs a logo?", Consider the problems your client has if they don’t have a logo.
You will solve these problems by creating a logo for your client.
Task: State and prioritize the main points of research needed to develop a solution to the problem
Step 1: Brainstorm a clear list of topics to research about logo design. Explain why you need to research each of the topics
you have listed.
Step 2: Create a table to organize your research topics in a logical order with the most important topics at the top and the
less important topics to the bottom.

Task: Describe the main features of one existing product that inspires a solution to the problem
For this task, you will describe and analyze the main features of one existing logo by testing it against the criteria below.
Simply explain how the logo meets each criterion and why? Is there anything you could use in your own logo?

Task: Present the main findings of relevant research
Step 1: Design Brief - Present a clear summary of your research from task 2. This should outline your findings about
how to design and create the logo.
Step 2: Bibliography - Document the sources you have used in your research in MLA format.
