We'll look at different eras of the industry and the areas you might want to influence its future. The aim is to provide you with a focused, in-depth understanding of the characteristics and contexts of the game industry. It also focuses on preparing you for specific higher education or employment progression routes that align with your ambitions.
Intent: Know your progression routes after college. Gain an understanding of the games industry, its history and what skills you will need to take yourself forward.
Implementation: Through practical tasks, research, experimentation, reflection and discussion. Independent investigation into the industry and opportunities. Applications informed by your aspirations and industry context.
Impact: Know where and how you’re progressing after college. Starting these next steps. Having this knowledge informed by industry context.
Industry: Explore different eras of gaming to understand the historical and artistic evolution of games. Use of industry standard software. Chance to network, meet and learn from industry professionals.

Unit 9: Characteristics and contexts in media and communication
Unit Aim: Provide students with an opportunity to develop a focused, in‐depth, understanding of the range, characteristics, complexity and contexts that define media and communication activity. It will require the student, through exploration and investigation to enter into a more formal dialogue of personal interrogation and understanding designed to confirm strengths, enthusiasms and ambitions.

Unit 11: Preparing for progression in creative media production
Unit Aim: Through a process of research, dialogue, reflection and evaluation, students are required to identify and prepare for specific Higher Education or employment progression routes appropriate to their ambitions. The unit will give students the opportunity to explore aspects of business, entrepreneurship and marketing and enable the student to demonstrate the requisite practical, intellectual and communication skills necessary for progression.

Work will be assessed in the form of weekly hand ins on google classroom, followed by a final assessment. Only the work on your college site will be assessed so it is vital you upload all work, including any development and mistakes.
