Unit 10: Engaging with an audience in creative media production
Unit Aim: This unit will require students to develop a more in‐depth knowledge and sophisticated understanding of a specific creative media production activity and the means by which the audience for that activity might be reached and addressed. The unit provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate an understanding of audiences for their chosen area of activity, and the importance of collaboration and communication with those audiences during engagement with complex problem solving tasks.
Intent: To use limited animation techniques to create effective animations
Implementation: Through discussion of theory, examples and experimentation with practical tasks
Impact: Useful knowledge for producing work with budget and time constraints
Soft skills: Attention to detail, patience, creativity, problem-solving
Industry: Powerful for future projects and future roles
SMSC: Sense of fulfilment, collaborative learning, supportive culture, moral and ethical discussions and responsibility within animation
5ps - Proper planning prevents poor performance.
The Setup
Getting set up correctly is crucial to making sure everything else runs smoothly
What do I do?
Animate on 12fps
Animate in widescreen, either:
1920x1080 or
1280x720
Save regularly to your GoogleDrive!
Plan what you set out to animate. Write it down, sketch it, etc
Chose a minimum of two of the exercises below. For each exercise you must:
Find an example within animation and analyse it
Produce your own small animation experimenting with the technique
Document your process
Reflect as you go
Remember! Everything this week is software agnostic (excpet for the perspective one which is partly Blender specific). The important thing this week is we're demonstrate our understanding of these techniques.
1. Breakdowns
Now we're animating! Here we're really getting into the way things move. Below are some ways you can do this in time effective ways. Each of these have their pros and cons. Working smart is using appropriate ones for the job and combining them:

Grab some free to use models, things that won't change shape are best (vehicles, buildings, etc)

On your google sites:
For at least two limited animation techniques:
Evidence of an example of the technique being used in animation and your analysis
Small animation experiment using the technique
Development of your process
Reflections throughout
Reflection comparing the techniques and overall philosophy of what we've done this week. Reflection should use key terminology discussed earlier
On your google sites:
For at least three limited animation techniques:
Evidence of examples of the technique being used in animation and your analysis, comparing and contrasting.
Small animation experiment using the technique
Development of your process

On your google sites:
For at least four limited animation techniques:
Evidence of examples of the technique being used in animation and your analysis, comparing and contrasting.

Primary research gathered in the form of feedback
You should now have an idea for your niche, who your target audience is and be able to produce animations. Start putting together your trailer/scene!
