Internships and placements are a great way to develop your skillset. Extracurricular activities or projects that show case problem solving and projects are also a great way to showcase your experience.
Top reading / research /websites to start students on their journey:
Anything related to problems and how to solve them, either mini-projects. It is less about content and more about the softer skills or project management and problem solving abilities.
