University of Hull

Applying Hub

We have updated our online step by step guide to the UCAS application process, taking students through each stage with a selection of on-demand resources. We have included information to help parents support their young people through the process too, and also a personal statement worksheet. The digital postcard attached contains a link to the webpage and resources.

Webinars

Running in conjunction with our applying hub we have a series of webinars coming up over the next few weeks, specifically aimed at supporting those writing personal statements; dates and registration links can be found here.

Additionally, we have a webinar specifically for parents and carers coming up on October 13 (5.30 – 6.30pm) and again on November 17, entitled “All you need to know about Higher Education”. This will provide an overview of the application process, and will also be supported by our finance expert.

Subject Taster MOOCs

Our academic teams have been busy over the summer, and we now have a number of free short online course tasters for students to access on Futurelearn, which provide introductory insights into studying at University. I have attached a digital postcard containing the links; there will be more coming online in the future, but to start with we have content from

Open Days and Campus Visits

Finally, I have attached our digital screen for upcoming Open Days; we always enjoy welcoming students and their friends and families onto Campus, and it was great to see so many people attending the first one of the year earlier this month. We have more in the pipeline, and for those unable to get to one of the open days, our mid-week campus visits are continuing too: Book your Campus Visit. Students travelling 20 miles or more may be able to claim back some of their travel expenses for either.

Personal Statement Inbox

Just a reminder that our personal statement inbox is now live: personalstatement@hull.ac.uk.

This proving to be a popular resource and I am pleased to say that we are receiving lots of statements daily, but we would like to see many more so that we can provide constructive feedback, regardless of course or university of choice.
