Curiosity. We’re an innovation company and the starting point is being very curious about how things could be better, why things work, and how people behave.
Leadership. We look for independent-minded people who can set a vision of the future, can think through the steps to get us there, and can enrol others to work with them on that vision.
Being inclusive & collaborative. The best results come from teams that work well together and embrace diversity. Being able to contribute to a diverse and collaborative environment is important for success.
Keep CVs short (max 2 pages) and make sure you tailor it to the companies you’re applying to. Include a mix of academic achievement and insights into interests/responsibilities outside school/university that show what you’re like as a person.
Understand what companies are looking for (they usually say on their recruitment websites) and think about times when you’ve displayed those qualities.
Build experiences that make interesting things to talk about in an in interview.
Many companies use online assessment quizzes to screen candidates. There are practice examples widely available online – make sure you try them and understand what it takes to be successful in such tests.
Work experience is very helpful. It gives you real insights into the kind of work and the kind of companies you’re thinking of joining.
Apprenticeships are also a great way into work if you don’t want the time and expense of a university degree.
Having a job that you find interesting, engaging and that you’re passionate about is more important that a job that pays a lot of money! Salary is important but it should not be the starting point.
There are good job portals that give insights into companies and jobs available - Indeed, Glassdoor and LinkedIn are three examples.
