Workshop - Explore jobs at a fair or festival!

Think creatively about complex roles like the engineering of fairground rides, the design and material science of the marquees, sound engineers, project planning & events management of a festival etc.

Research the roles and link them to your subjects

Tasks-

Translation Competitions

Students of French, Spanish, German, and/or Russian in Years 12 and 13 in the UK are invited to submit their translation of an original short text. Only one translation for each language per student is permitted. The texts and information about each competition are available at the following links:

The authors of the ten best entries for each competition will each receive a prize of a £25 book token and an invitation to take part in a special Translation Workshop held at the University of Sheffield, involving academics, Masters students in Translation Studies and alumni who work in translation-related fields.

This competition will be judged by experts on our Allanian Society Board (former students from Dame Allan's)

Categories- Juniors / Years 7-9 / Year 10-13

Winners in each category - £20 for a Dame Allan's student and £20 for a non Dame Allan's student

TATA self-led DIGITAL EXPLORER Work Experience Challenge

AUDIENCE- students with the ability to envision themselves in a tech-based role, whether it’s working with the latest artificial intelligence technology, creating an app, or designing a user interface. Students who fully complete the programme receive a certificate to recognise their achievement.

This challenge has been set by TATA Consultancy Services - they're looking for you to demonstrate your skills in digital innovation, creativity and project management. Check out an introductory video here. Your brief is to create an App that will help to address one of the following issues-

  • Healthy eating

  • Mental health relating to exam pressure

  • Social isolation among older people

  • Homelessness
