Google Forms have been a very useful assessment tool because it is so easy to use and provides students immediate feedback. But many teachers have feared that students can cheat on it by opening a new tab to "Google" answers, use built in web browsing tools like translate, and even inspect the form's code to expose answers!

Worry about kids cheating on a Google Form no more!

4/2/18 UPDATE: Google is shutting down their goo.gl shortening service, so SecureQuiz has transitioned to bit.ly.

Students do not sign into their chromebooks, instead (like AIR or MAP) they click on Apps on the startup screen, and choose "Secure Quiz App."

They then enter the Access Code that you generate by creating a shortened URL through bit.ly.

For example, the seven characters at the end of bit.ly/2Ed8mMY become the access code 2Ed8mMY.

Once they click "Go," they will be prompted to sign into their Google account and take their assessment. As you can see, the form is loaded within a secure browser and no other options are available, including possible drawbacks, like Google Read&Write.

Once students submit their assessment, they can log back into their Chromebook to view their score by accessing the link somewhere you post it, like Google Classroom, or just typing in the full "bit.ly/2Ed8mMY" into Chrome's omnibar.

TECHNICAL SETUP NOTE

Our school's GSuite Administrator has deployed this app to managed Chromebooks via kiosk mode.
