BISHCMC is proud to host the NAE STEAM festival for the South East Asia region. This will bring together students from years 6, 7 & 8 to work together to solve challenges using skills from many different subjects, meet each other and have fun.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION, RATHER IT IS A FESTIVAL WHERE WE ALL WORK TOGETHER AND LEARN FROM EACHOTHER.
In recent years some of the Nord Anglia Education Abstracts have been about space travel. One of my favourites was Shon Mackies "A Star in a Jar", which will potentially be powering spaceships in 100 years or so.

If (when) we do make that jump to outer space, mankind needs to be ready. Ready to take on challenges "on the spot". Ready to adapt. Some people seem to think that you need to be lucky, you are born with the skills to adapt, to change, to problem solve. There is another school of thought that says no, like tying your shoelaces and learning to count, problem-solving is another skill you can learn.
Actively learning to think is called metacognition. The foundation of the next couple of days is going to be practising how we solve problems. In line with the process we are developing here at BIS HCMC, we are going to use our STEAM process of:
Analyse - Whats the problem? (including success criteria).
Design - How do you propose to solve the problem? Choose a design that will meet your success criteria.
Build - Build your chosen solution
Evaluate - Did your chosen solution meet the needs outlined in the success criteria?
More details can be found here on the relevant page of this site.
