Session 1 - Product Display

Welcome

We have been tasked with picking an every day object and seeing if we can investigate its production process, the materials it consists of, the packaging, the transport and many other variables, and to see if we can make one suggestion to make the product more sustainable.

The work is going to be in teams. This doesn't mean that one person does all of the work, rather the work is going to be shared.

Can I suggest to begin with that one of your group create a Google Slides, Canva or PowerPoint and share the document with the rest of the group?

The first task you need to begin with is an investigation into materials. (50 minutes).

Some questions you need to consider can be on this page here

To begin with we need to decide on the key materials that your product might be made out of. Can you judge them on strength, flexibility, etc? More notes are on the page above.

The second task is choosing a product from the range and considering the materials they are made from. (50 minutes)

The ultimate aim here is to make a product exploded view diagram. This includes the packaging.  You can work together to produce the drawing and create the photographs, however you want to do it. But what you need to do is make sure your exploded view is annotated to show the materials, and if relevant, how the materials are prepared, (or you think they are prepared).
