Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence in Education
Artificial Intelligence in Education is an ever-changing idea which means that this page is probably out of date before I even finish the sentence. The purpose of this page is to show how it can be used in my lessons, and if you are here as a teacher. I hope it can benefit you too.
I am always open for discussion, so if you want to raise something with me, my email is at the bottom of this page.
Potential uses and threats.
The cat is out of the bag, Pandora's box is open, AI is not going to go away.
What good can it do? I am focusing on 3 ideas initially.
If a rubric is known, I will be asking students to check their answers with the AI before handing into me. This hopefully allows the students self confidence to grow and gives them answers more speedily than relying on me.
If a large amount of research is required, I will be encouraging students to use AI to ask for a reading list, to help narrow down the rabbit hole, and make sure that age appropriate resources are supplied.
If a synopsis is required, or a compare and contrast, or ideas, I will be asking AI to produce ideas for discussion
Of course, it has to be referenced properly. There are standards for doing this and they will be followed. The only way to encourage academic integrity is to embrace and teach how to use these tools as you would a calculator. Its an exciting time, I wonder where the next 5 - 10 years will bring us.
