School Board Requirement
SB 1.0
Each school in the Archdiocese of Baltimore must have a School Board.
Purpose:
To provide support and expertise to the school in the areas of mission and Catholic identity, finance, facilities, marketing, membership, strategic planning, and institutional advancement (e.g., enrollment).
Commentary/Procedural Points:
The Board must comply with the directives stated in the Archdiocesan School Board Manual, 2016.
The board follows the protocols outlined in their individual school bylaws.
The board follows the recommendations from the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools. While all the standards are important, Catholic school boards should make note of standards 5 and 6 regarding governance and leadership.
