Non-Custodial Parent Access to Child
ADM 5.3
The school does not allow a non-custodial parent access to his/her child unless the custodial parent has consented in writing or the school has a copy of a court order or parental agreement permitting access.
Purpose:
To safeguard the child during school hours when the schools has temporary custody of the child.
Commentary/Procedural Points:
The school maintains a file copy of the custody decree with the official seal of notarization. It is the parent’s responsibility to provide this information and to keep it current.
The school contacts the custodial parent when the non-custodial parent seeks access to his/her child.
Absent a court order or agreement between the parties indicating otherwise, each natural parent is presumed to be a custodial parent with equal custody rights.
