All archdiocesan elementary schools shall determine class size for each grade level that is consistent with the recommended guidelines.
Purpose:
To ensure a safe learning environment.
Commentary/Procedural Points:
For preschool (age 2), class size per school is outlined in the Letter of Compliance from Maryland's Office of Child Care. Typically, the teacher-student ratio is 1:6 with a maximum group size of 12 students.
For pre-school, (ages 3-4), class size per school is outlined in the Letter of Compliance from Maryland's Office of Child Care. Typically, the teacher-student ratio is 1:10.
For kindergarten, the recommended maximum teacher-student ratio is 1:25, with an instructional assistant.
For first through fifth grades, the recommended maximum teacher-student ratio is 1:27.
For sixth through eighth grades, the recommended maximum teacher-student ration is 1:30.
