Describe how to determine cloud base, given the temperature, pressure, and dew point at the surface.
Answer
Using a sounding diagram, locate the two points corresponding to the temperature and dew point at the specified pressure. Follow up a dry adiabat from the temperature point, and up along a saturation mixing ratio line from the dew point. The point at which these two lines intersect gives the pressure and temperature at cloud base.
