The first step is to log in! In the top right corner, enter your 6 character forecaster ID, and then your password.
After getting logged in, under the drop down menu on the right navigation bar that says "The Challenge", click "Submit Forecast".
The next step is to enter your new forecast! Ensure that the day and location is correct, and then enter your maximum temperature forecast into the box labeled "High", the minimum temperature into "Low", the maximum wind speed into "Wind Speed", and the amount of precipitation into "Precip". Pretty self-explanatory, right?
Additionally, if you would prefer, you can select "Persistence Forecast", for a penalty of 10 points (we'll talk about the scoring system on the next page). This basically says, "What happened today will happen again tomorrow". While this may be a valid forecast in some places, very rarely will it be for the locations you'll be forecasting for. You may also use the guidance forecast, but beware, after using it once, you lose 5 points each additional time.
Now, at this point, you can enter additional forecasts for future days. This can be a great way to avoid losing points on forgetting to forecast, and gives you more practice with the forecasting process.
Now, how did you do? Well, that requires some time to see, so come back the next day! Until then, we'll discuss the scoring system.
