Did you notice the "VIRGA" in the remarks section of two of the last three METARs from JAN? I did. And I'm worried that, despite the model forecast, there might be rain on the way. So I bring up the national radar composite. It shows that the rain is still well to the west, in Texas.
Is that where it's supposed to be? I bring back the four-panel precipitation forecast. All is well. The rain is currently to the west of where it was supposed to be at 00Z tonight. So I'm not at all worried that the rain might be farther east than forecasted by the computer model. So my precip forecast is: no rain.
