Southern Rams soccer had an over the top season in 2024 with winning the state championship. The season of 2024 was a very senior heavy class with fourteen seniors and seven out of the eleven players that started were seniors. WIth key players like Ryan Schweigart and Brody Reynolds running the midfield along with Aidan Donnelly up top to finish, everyone is wondering what next year will look like with the loss of fourteen seniors along with those key players.
I spoke with three crucial players Nick Leiriao, Jon Mandell and Colton Davis that have lots of experience playing along with the state championship team.I sat them down and asked them a handful of questions starting with what needs to happen for success next year. Nick and Colton were very big on team morale and passion because with the loss of that many seniors there can be a loss of hope and doubt going through the team, but these boys plan to keep that from not happening. They were asked what their expectations are for next year. They all confidently said to win the A-South and Shore Conference and hope to make another run in states. These boys are confident with what they have going next year and when they were asked what they were going to do about the loss of the seniors, they simply replied with how much harder they need to work and the need of the younger players to step up and get the job done.
After concluding with the boys there is not much worry that these boys are up for the challenge next year.
