Christmas is almost here and spirits are rising all over, however, some may need a reminder of why Christmas is celebrated! Every action has a reason behind it, for instance: you brush your teeth because they’re dirty; with that said, it’s important to remember the reason you celebrate Christmas. So why is Christmas celebrated? The answers vary widely and differently from family to family, so here are a few reasons.
Our world has a long history with religion, and religion is still in our day to day lives with no exception of it being in our calendar. Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus in the form of Christmas, and what better time to celebrate such an event than in December when the world is covered in a beautiful white blanket of snow? Even though Christmas is Christian, Christians aren’t the only people who celebrate this holiday!
Christmas is(like other holidays) filled with traditions, with Christmas’s main tradition giving a gift to someone you care about, for example, your family. Sadly, many people get things mixed up and look forward to the gifts they receive instead of the smiles from the ones they give. Gifts don’t have to be expensive, they just have to be thoughtful, to show that you care.
Many families celebrate Christmas so they can host a family gathering! It’s good to appreciate everything you have, even your family, and there truly is no better way to do so than coming together to appreciate each other's company and drinking hot chocolate inside of a warm home. A big part of Christmas is spreading love and cheer, these emotions are very prominent and contagious at family meets.
Whether or not you’re Christian, there are many reasons why you should celebrate Christmas. Making others happy is of utmost importance and a massive part of Christmas is exactly that! The joy of giving instead of taking and making others happy is one of the things that makes Christmas so amazing. So whether it be for religious reasons, spreading happiness, or coming together to meet with your family, Christmas is the perfect holiday to celebrate.
