Growing up, I was always the girl who was so excited to go on class field trips. This might have been rooted from the fact that my family was not a vacation type of family, so school trips were my only way to explore for a little while, or because I just always had a thrill for doing activities with my school. No matter how many times my classmates called a trip to the zoo, or the aquarium, or even to Washington D.C. ¨lame,¨ I was never soaked into those rumors. I made sure I enjoyed every moment of what was given to me. Not only do I personally believe that going on school field trips has benefited me in multiple ways, but there are proven facts that school trips only enhance a person's mind.
The rate in which school field trips left a long lasting, positive impact on individuals is 89 percent. NEA members state that “school field trips make students more engaged, intellectually curious, and interested in and out of school.” There was also a study done by the NEA which determined that 59% of people who go on school trips have better grades, 95% have higher graduation rates from high school (63% from college), and 12% of people have a greater income as a whole. School field trips, for example, a trip to the zoo, can create bonding between students who you would have never seen together. An educational trip to the movies can provide information on an important topic that the film brings. Sometimes, the film can be more effective than a teacher talking. Kids pay more attention to a movie rather than a figure of authority sometimes. Other than educational trips, even non-educational school field trips have beautiful benefits. The Southern Regional High School Disney senior class field trip has vast benefits; one of the more obvious ones being the connection that is brought between students, teachers, and administrators; connections that you cannot get anywhere else. Of course, there will be opposing sides that state that school field trips do not enhance anything in a person because they are made “Just for fun,” or because “Not everyone gets along,” but it is no lie that school field trips have satisfaction to them.
All in all, school field trips are more than what individuals say they are; these trips are worth more than what people think. Just because they are “School” ran does not mean that they cannot be fun and educational at the same time. Trust that your school can give you something great and you will build new friendships, knowledge, and most importantly, new experiences.
