If you know me, you know I love beauty, fitness, and health. Those are the top 3 most important things to me, other than my family of course. On a day off, what I like to do in my free time, is a self care day. Aren’t those the best? You take a nice bubble bath, put a face mask on, make or order yourself a healthy takeout meal, watch movies, go to the gym, and just prioritize you for the day. I look forward to those days. There are many different ways to start prioritizing you and to make sure you get your self care days. Even if you work fulltime or go to school, time is not running out! Don’t forget, you have the rest of your life to prioritize yourself! From this day forward, it is time to start making your days about you! If you’re like me and want to start now, keep on following :)
Number 1.
Start a Routine. Make it a habit to repeat, reset, and reflect. Having a routine will help map out what days will work best for you to prioritize your wellbeing. Isn’t easy to start or have bad habits? So, why can’t we start or have good ones? Indeed, you can! Having a routine is the BEST habit out there. Your routine will refresh your mind and mental health. Not only does a routine help you stay organized, but it takes away a lot of your stress. Based on my personal experience, creating a healthy, daily routine made the biggest difference in my day to day life.
Number 2.
Write Things Down. Feelings, plans, achievements. Write them down! Making a list, and checking things off also helps you to stay organized and on top of your things. That personally was very helpful for me. One day, someone put the bug in my ear. She told me, “Elle, you better start writing these things down.” I would always laugh, I thought it was helpless, and wouldn’t solve the problems I had. New flash… It doesn’t! However, It does help guide you into the right direction to make that change you’re looking for. Kind of like a restart button! Jotting down a couple notes a day, helps you improve the next. Jotting things down will clear your head. Whenever I write down the things that are on my mind, I feel the weight ease off my chest. Each day you write, you’ll notice how quickly your mind and feelings change. That is very important. 10/10, recommend.
Number 3.
Have a Schedule/Plan. Having a schedule helps you know your plans and what will be time consuming or not. In that schedule, squeeze in at least 1 hour for yourself. It is possible, but only if you want it. I am a planner, I love to have a plan and know what the day is going to look like. If I plan to go to the gym, then cook myself a healthy meal when I get back, I will make the time and write it down on my calendar. If I plan on waking up earlier to have 20 more minutes in the morning to do a nice hairstyle and some makeup, I will make sure my alarm is set. I will also plan out what morning will work best for that. For instance, Wednesday's are my busy days, so I go to the gym on the other days of the week. I do that so I don’t overwhelm myself. Once you have a plan and schedule, the days will repeat the same pattern. That, my friend, is the best feeling.
These 3 steps have helped me drastically. I’ve been in funks and have had off days many times, trust me, I get it! But, your health, beauty, and fitness is very important. Those are the 3 things I prioritize on my “self care” days. Don’t get me wrong, those 3 steps are just the basics. But, It’s a great start. If you’re interested in staying fit, healthy, and feeling fabulous, you can find me on social media and can reach out to me via email. I hope you start prioritizing your wellbeing. Make that change. Having just 1 hour a day for yourself makes the biggest difference, you’ll see! I believe in you!
